ASEAN and UN month Quiz Bee Contest

In celebration of the United Nations month, the AP/Social Science Area and Ka-Tribo Club in collaboration with the BES Libraries and JHS Book Club conducted an activity entitled “ASEAN and United Nations Quiz Bee with the theme “International Year of Peace and Trust: Building a Better Future, Living a Better Life”, held on October 9, 2025 at the Junior High School Library. The activity aimed to: 1) promote global awareness & deepen understanding of the Social Sciences, and 2) engage the BES community meaningfully with the United Nations. Thirty-six (36) JHS students from Grades 7-10 participated in the said activity.

This activity was conducted successfully and meaningfully not only to commemorate the ASEAN and UN month, but also to discover new learnings, experiences, and camaraderie. Through this activity, students were inspired to become more globally aware and actively contribute to a culture of peace, unity, and mutual respect.

The top three winners who garnered the highest scores were recognized with certificates.
The winners:
            1st Place: Emson B. Bunagan- Grade 10-Jose Rizal
            2nd Place: Kryztof Danrei P. Maquera- Grade 8-St. Peter
            3rd Place: Shawn Halley A. Gundan- Grade 9-Humility

Based on the evaluation of the activity, this was generally rated STRONGLY AGREE with a rating of 3.64. Therefore, the activity was done successfully, and the participants enjoyed themselves.

LIBRARY QUIZ BOWL: Unlocking Knowledge Beyond Shelves

On October 10, 2025, the College Library conducted “Library Quiz Bowl: Unlocking Knowledge Beyond the Shelves” at the BCJC Library to promote academic engagement and enhance awareness of library resources. The activity aimed to promote awareness and appreciation of the library’s collection, services, and resources, to encourage healthy competition and sportsmanship among participants. And to strengthen students’ knowledge of library history, literature anf general information. Led by Mrs. Ma. Katrina I. Juan (SABH-In charge) and Ms. Elma S. Eclarin (SECAP and SAS Librarian), college students from the BCJC Campus actively participated in the event and successfully combined education with entertainment.

Winners received Certificates of Recognition, prizes, and a 3-day borrowing extension, while non-winners received a Certificate of Participation, bookmark and 1-day borrowing extension. The activity was evaluated by the participants generally as STRONGLY AGREE. Based on the comments and suggestions, it can be made in promotion and participant involvement, but overall, the program was effective, enjoyable, and educational.

Library Scavenger Hunt: Science Month Edition

One of the highlights for the month of September was the Scavenger Hunt activity for Senior High School students of the University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao SHS library held on September 24, 2025. The activity aimed to hone students’ reading, critical thinking, and their problem-solving abilities, with prizes prepared as rewards for their excellence.

The said activity was facilitated by BLIS Interns from Cagayan State University—Carig Campus, under the guidance of Mr. Onofre C. Unciano Jr.

Students of different levels from the SHS department were scouted to join the said activity. The mechanics were presented before the hunt began.

The Top placers are the following:
1st Place: Zariah Dang-Awan & Venarose Baggayan – Grade 11 St. Augustine
2nd Place: Audrey Fedelis & Aiko Bunagan – Grade 11 St. Augustine
3rd Place (Tie):
• AJ Columna & Mhea Manganip – Grade 11 St. Augustine
• Jerlene Adducul & John Carlo Guzman – Grade 11 St. Anselm

In conclusion, the library ensures that activities like these are not only leisure but also for student engagement—helping them Learn, explore, and sharpen their reading skills.
